Ho Chi Minh City-based architecture firm Studio Noor has completed its restoration of the famed Splendid Palace Hotel Istanbul. Updated with respect to the original design, the property’s new look blends ancient references with contemporary accents.
The hotel is appointed with an abundance of reproduced artwork aged by hand to express the property’s history. Original flooring has been restored to its natural color and new wood paneling injects a contemporary sensibility into the interior. The lobby welcomes visitors with opulent furnishings, including a custom ottoman sofa installed along with red screens and lanterns in the winter garden.
Studio Noor also crafted a new reception counter punctuated with pigeon holes painted red, while the lobby lounge features a bar in the rear repainted in a rich blue tone to complement a faded blue, cream, and gray palette. A custom chandelier crafted with resin beads and Turkish tealeaves illuminates the space. A motif of bold Basque red characterizes the redesign as well.
The onsite restaurant boasts new buffet counters and chairs in blue and gray, while original, repolished chandeliers add a sense of balance.
