The St. Louis Union Station Hotel is the latest addition to Hilton’s Curio collection following its $40 million transformation. Originally constructed in downtown St. Louis in 1894, the landmark building was once the country’s largest railway terminal. The historic space was converted into a hotel in 1985.
The 539-room property still features many of its original ornate details, such as Indiana limestone, a Romanesque whispering arch, a 280-foot-tall clock tower, and mosaic tilework. Boasting 65-foot-tall vaulted gold leaf ceilings and stained glass windows, the Grand Hall serves as the hotel’s centerpiece and will host a new 3D light show comprising 30 vignettes. In addition to the Grand Hall’s local microbrews and signature cocktails, onsite dining includes the Station Grille, housed in the station’s original restaurant, and the Market, a 1920s-style Starbucks designed with an elaborate drinking fountain and a historic fireplace.
The hotel also features 10,000 square feet of meeting space including the large, historic Midway Hall and the Regency ballroom. An outdoor swimming pool, surrounding courtyard, and 24-hour fitness center are additional amenities. The property will also house the 75,000-square-foot St. Louis Aquarium, set to open in 2018.
