Continuing its expansion across North America, Starwood has revealed plans to renovate and convert a Dania Beach, Florida hotel into the Le Méridien Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel. The new property is the result of an agreement with owner and real estate developer Charles S. Cohen, who intends to incorporate the hotel into his 40-acre Creative Design Center of the Americas campus, a design and office center in Dania Beach. The property will be the brand’s second in Florida.
Following the $30 million makeover, a glass curtain wall façade, an upgraded porte-cochère, and large-scale artwork will greet guests, while two onsite restaurants will debut, including one embracing a midcentury modern open kitchen plan. In addition to an expanded fitness center and renovated outdoor pool, the hotel will offer more than 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
The Le Méridien Fort Lauderdale Airport will introduce the brand’s Le Méridien Hub, which reimagines the traditional lobby as a spot for social gatherings. The 245-room hotel will also offer suites complete with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Long Island City, New York-based dash design has been tapped for the interiors, with Coral Springs, Florida-based firm Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates handling architecture.
The Le Méridien Fort Lauderdale Airport is scheduled to debut in 2017.
