Tribute Portfolio, Marriott’s independent hotel and resort collection, has debuted its latest property, Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud Bali. Designed by Jakarta-based firm Johanes Architects, the 143-room new-build hotel is perched atop a tropical hillside overlooking the Wos River valley from the heart of the Ubud district. The design narrative is ripe with Balinese elements, while also organically incorporating the picturesque natural setting.
Part of the brand’s signature design details, the hotel includes culturally inspired elements like dragon wood carvings that symbolize power, strength, and good fortune. Three stone carvings that depict Trimurti, the Hindu trinity of supreme divinity—Brahama, Wisnu, and Siwa—are also featured. The airy, sundrenched F&B concept Naga Rooftop Bar & Lounge is home to classic vintage colors and patterns of concrete tiles and a bamboo woven chair.
Other F&B options include the Asian concept Sungai Restaurant and the Panorama Pool and Sundeck Lounge, which offers guests light fare, cocktails, and expansive views. The hotel is endowed with more than 4,300 square feet of event space, all of which maximizes the lush, tropical setting.
