New York’s 60 Thompson has rebranded as SIXTY SoHo and will debut its new look following a multimillion-dollar renovation to all guestrooms and public spaces.
Following its transformation, SIXTY SoHo will exude a classic elegance that embraces the vibrancy of its neighborhood. The hotel’s design was conceived in a collaborative effort under the creative direction of co-owners Jason, Lawrence, and Michael Pomeranc and Tara Bernerd of London-based Tara Bernerd & Partners. The concept combines bohemian chic and modern sophistication styles, merging contemporary and vintage looks.
Custom iron fencing frames the landscaped entryway with café-style seating. The lobby’s rich velvet and gray wood paneling will act as a backdrop to art pieces created and curated by British artist Harland Miller, and the space is punctuated by a selection of mid-century and contemporary furniture.
“The transformation of SIXTY SoHo will create a stylish, residential environment for our guests seeking an exclusive urban retreat,” says Jason Pomeranc. “People have forgotten there is a narrative to be told in the hotel sector; we strive to be cultural storytellers through art, design, experiences, and service that will welcome, excite, and inspire our guests long after they have checked out.”
The hotel’s 97 guestrooms have planked timber floors combined with caramel leather furnishings and blue mohair accents. Dark timber slatted blinds, a bespoke bar cabinet, and a desk in petrol blue lacquer with tan leather inserts add to the decor.
SIXTY SoHo will also debut Sessanta, a casual restaurant serving coastal Italian fare, in early 2015, and a new lobby bar will open in November.
