Managed by Marshall Hotels and Resorts, the Bernic hotel is slated to open next winter in Midtown Manhattan’s Turtle Bay neighborhood, near the former location of Andy Warhol’s iconic studio, Factory.
The boutique hotel will be nearby Grand Central Terminal, the United Nations Headquarters, shops on Fifth Avenue, the Chrysler Building, and attractions like Rockefeller Center and the Times Square Theater District.
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania-based Hersha Purchasing & Design and locally based C3D Architecture will imbue the Bernic with artful interiors that blend neo-modernism with a deconstructed design language that nods to the neighborhood’s classic Tudor City brownstones. Artist-in-residence Ian Sklarsky will also provide murals of iconic cityscapes—New York, Dubai, London, Paris, São Paulo, Shanghai, Sydney, and Tokyo—for the lobby, guestrooms, and hallways.
The 21-story hotel will feature a dual-level, glass and gunmetal façade. Most of the property’s 96 guestrooms, which include a penthouse suite, will offer private balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the skyline.
The Bernic’s 72-seat Allora restaurant will feature a marble bar and herringbone floors, while a rooftop sky lounge will open next spring.
