Designed by Napa-based firm Shopworks, the first phase of renovations to the Carneros Inn, a Plumpjack Resort, includes enhancements to the wedding garden, family pool, guest entry, and reception area. Totaling more than $6.5 million, the first phase of work will be completed by the end of March.
The new guest reception building is relocated near FARM restaurant, and includes a porte-cochère, water feature, and modern outdoor seating. The design is inspired by the resort’s location on 27 acres of countryside, and includes white battened walls, a front desk made of walnut with a Carrara marble top, oversized mirrors to reflect the surrounding scenery, fresh cut flowers, orange and white furniture, and limestone flooring. The former reception area will be converted to a 500-square-foot owners’ lounge and board meeting space.
Enhancements to the wedding garden, which total $1 million, include a trellis, an opulent water feature, exterior landscaping, and drought-tolerant and heel-friendly turf. The family pool has a new, elevated deck with a shade trellis, luxury padded lounges and furniture, fresh paint, and lush landscaping.
Additionally, the resort’s 86 cottages and 10 suites will undergo more than $2.8 million of soft renovations, to be completed in two phases. The first 40 cottages will be completed in 2016, and the remaining in 2017. Design features include an updated color palette of charcoal gray, white, dark purple, and orange accents. Bathrooms will be given new heated tile flooring, countertops, bathroom fixtures, and soaking tubs. The cottages will also receive new contemporary furniture and lighting, as well as bedding, drapes, and accessories. The hilltop pool will also add stylish lounge seating and eight cabanas, and the gym will receive new flooring.
