BAR Architects & Interiors, alongside Gluckman Tang Architects, has reimagined the Cove Eleuthera, a secluded resort nestled between two private white sand coves on the northern tip of the Bahamian island.
The 40-acre property features 14 revamped bungalow suites and three villas, four new bungalow suites and a pair of two-bedroom villas, and the refreshed 9,000-square-foot Freedom Restaurant and Sushi Bar.
The multimillion-dollar redesign draws inspiration from the island’s natural surroundings through a palette of soft neutrals, pale teak, and natural materials.
Refreshed accommodations at the Cove Eleuthera
The architecture of the existing suites and villas was preserved, while the interiors have been completely remodeled.
Grass cloth-covered headboards and azure accents harmonize with crisp white grooved-board walls, stone floors, and oversized custom rugs. Tall angled ceilings and sliding glass doors, meanwhile, frame views of turquoise waters.
Bathrooms feature spa-like touches with deep soaking tubs and oversized showers, complemented by private decks and outdoor showers enveloped in tropical greenery.
“Inspired by the island’s pristine landscape and weathered driftwood, we designed the interiors in a relaxed-luxurious style, layering in the local palette to convey a sense of serenity,” says Timothy Hepworth, director of BAR Architects & Interiors. “The new aesthetic maintains the Cove’s welcoming character while creating a seamless language between the interiors and island.”
Freedom Restaurant and Sushi Bar
The resort’s signature restaurant, Freedom Restaurant and Sushi Bar, also underwent a transformation, resulting in a sophisticated beach club vibe. Framing ocean views, the airy space features oversized windows and a marbled waterfall sushi bar at its center.
Striking a balance between modern lines and soft curves, furnishings span raffia-spooled stools, scalloped-back dining chairs, and half-moon banquettes dressed in sandy taupes and silvery grays. Teak wood elements further add to the relaxed coastal aesthetic.
The Relais & Chateaux property also features an infinity pool terrace, dining and lounge areas, a fire pit, new beach cove furnishings, and enhanced landscaping and pathways that guide guests through native vegetation.
