Red Lion Hotels Corporation (RLHC) has unveiled its new Hotel RL brand’s flagship property, Hotel RL Baltimore Inner Harbor.
Located in downtown Baltimore near Camden Yards and the M&T Bank Stadium, the 130-room urban lifestyle hotel is situated in the historic Keyser Building. Chicago-based the Gettys Group redesigned the 10-story, stone structure in reference to the Pacific Northwest and features seating concept the Steps, which is based on the famed coffeehouses of that region.
Communal spaces throughout engender a social atmosphere with comfortable furnishings and technological aspects that have Millennial travelers in mind. Rather than a traditional lobby desk, the hotel staff uses tablets for electronic check-in and a kiosk where guests may choose to obtain a physical room key. Hardwood floors, large changing areas, and electronic keyless entry are included in the design. Guests will also have access to more than 2,400 square feet of meeting space.
“We have been embracing the Baltimore community and already feel an integral part of it,” says RLHC President and CEO Greg Mount. “We know our guests will enjoy the location and the experience Hotel RL Baltimore offers. We emphasized comfortable, communal spaces and advanced technological touches which will appeal to travelers with a Millennial mindset; those who are addicted to their devices.”
The property will also participate in the Project Wake Up Call Initiative, a social responsibility effort aimed at raising funds and awareness to help combat homelessness by showcasing images taken by professional and amateur homeless photographers. The Baltimore property has collaborated with Health Care for the Homeless, a volunteer organization that provides the homeless population with better access to affordable housing and health care. Hotel RL will launch a similar citywide initiative in each new city where it opens a hotel.
