The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Chicago, one of the city’s original boutique concepts, has revealed its comprehensive restoration from locally based design practice The Gettys Group. Drawing inspiration from the nearby Lake Michigan, as well as the ongoing development along the Chicago Riverwalk that is visible from the century-old building.
Lined with luxury and sleek materials alongside contemporary amenities, the hotel’s revamped 191 guestrooms and 22 suites feature separate sitting areas set against a backdrop of city views framed via large bay windows. Details such as the the tucked yoga mats in the closets, and tiled walk-in showers outfitted with marble accents add further comfort and ease to the interiors.
Final updates culminated in the creation of the new, multifunctional lobby designed in a living room-style, that is anchored by a striking reception desk fronted with pressed glass reminiscent of the frozen Chicago River. Serving as one of the focal points at the space is the inviting, custom-made wine table promotes the hotel’s signature wine hour concept.
