Oram Hotels and Azul Hospitality Group are set to unveil the Guild Hotel in San Diego in early 2019 as part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio. Housed within a former military YMCA landmark, the property will be transformed by Oram’s Alvin Mansour in collaboration with Sormeh Azad of Incommon Design.
The exterior Italian Renaissance-style façade as well as the building’s original grand staircase will remain intact to herald the newly crafted contemporary lobby. The boutique-style space will be outfitted with a full-service bar. An indoor-outdoor signature restaurant will also open onsite, punctuated by lush greenery. Additional amenities will include a subterranean pool in the basement and a grand ballroom housed inside the transformed former basketball court. The space’s original brick wall inlays and hardwood floors will recall the history of the city landmark.
The eight-floor hotel will also feature 162 guestrooms, which will range from cozy, European-style accommodations to a two-bedroom penthouse with a private rooftop deck.
