The Londoner, a forthcoming boutique hotel concept in Leicester Square, is delaying its planned opening—initially slated for summer 2020—amid the ongoing pandemic. COVID-19 restrictions require a limited number of construction personnel onsite, thus slowing down the construction timeline. Spread across 16 stories, the Londoner will now debut early 2021.
Housed within a new-build designed by Woods Bagot, the 350-room hotel will evoke urban luxury with spaces designed by Yabu Pushelberg like dual screening rooms and a tower penthouse that overlooks the sprawl of London. Six F&B options will be featured on the property, including a tavern, alfresco dining on the ground floor, and a contemporary Japanese lounge bar attached to a rooftop terrace and fire pit. An expansive ballroom, fitness center, and spa will also round out the onsite amenities.
