The Rosewood Mayakoba has been restored against the lush jungles of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. New York-based studio Bando x Seidel Meersseman oversaw the hotel’s $20 million redesign, which pays homage to Mexican craftsmanship and culture. In fact, the firm even consulted with a local anthropologist to weave the traditions of the past and present into the
interiors.
All 129 suites of the upscale concept are attached to private outdoor pools
and feature indigenous materials such as lava stone and natural woods. The beachfront four-bedroom presidential suite, one of the two sumptuous presidential suits of the concept, is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows, and decorated with embroidered textiles, locally crafted metals, lava stone, and ceramics. In addition to compromising all kinds of indoor-outdoor amenities as this one, the other lagoon three-bedroom presidential suite offers a floating 270-degree lounge as well.
Slated to open in December 2019, the hotel’s eight wellness suites will be
crafted in loft-like style, and feature private salt therapy pools overlooking
serene lagoons. The most popular F&B concept of the lavish concept is the
communal, open-air spot Zapote, conceived to evoke a colonial hacienda.
Featuring a material palette of poured concrete and wood, the airy spot is
anchored by a large communal table installed perpendicular to the interactive chef’s table.
