Los Angeles-based COE Architecture has announced that its Sherman Oaks Hotel project will debut in Riverside, California in spring 2017. The hotel is located on a transformed surface parking lot.
The cheerful façade will include a pattern of window and screen walls clad with flat cement-board panels and angled metal panels that create a rich textured effect with minimal signage to minimize disruption. Clear glazing along the pool enclosure and lobby establishes a welcoming arrival experience, while enhanced paving and abundant indigenous greenery will be used for low water consumption and to frame the frontage along Riverside Drive.
The central pool will be buffered from the sidewalk by a landscaped edge, glazed fencing, and a pedestrian-scaled arcade structure leading to the lobby creating a continuous ribbon effect. Open spaces throughout will connect visitors to the natural environment.
