Thompson Hotels has debuted in the nation’s capital with the launch of the Thompson Washington DC. The sleek 225-room property rises 11 stories above the city’s Navy Yard with a refined edge conceived by New York-based Studios Architecture. Beyond its textured, industrial façade abounds a sophisticated interior design by fellow New York firm Parts and Labor Design.
Crafted with the brand’s signature midcentury modern style, the interior also aims to echo the industrial vernacular of the Navy Yard. Each accommodation features floor-to-ceiling windows, while two of the 17 onsite suites are attached to outdoor terraces overlooking the Anacostia River. All guestrooms are further detailed with custom headboards upholstered with Dutch wool boucle and leather framed in dark oak.
In addition to more than 7,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor event and meeting spaces, the hotel is crowned with the rooftop bar Anchovy Social. The airy, nautical concept is conceived to contrast the darker palette of the onsite Roman-style restaurant Maialino Mare, which is located adjacent to the cozy Thompson Bar Room.
