The Ian Schrager Company and Marriott International have unveiled the first Japan outpost of EDITION Hotels: Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon. Crafted by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the new urban concept is part of the 38-story mixed-use skyscraper Tokyo World Gate, and was designed to reflect the symbiosis of Eastern and Western design vernaculars.
Guests are greeted with public spaces that draw inspiration from Buddhist temples, complete with a multifunctional central courtyard. Beneath 450-foot-tall ceilings, the two-story lobby was conceived to promote communal and social interaction with a convivial ambiance reflective of Tokyo.
Highlighted among the diverse F&B options is the glamorous Blue Room, which evokes romance through a palette of luminous sapphire and topaz reminiscent of an Yves Klein painting. The Jade Room + Garden Terrace accommodates visitors across an otherworldly atmosphere, accented with more than 500 plants, trees, and shrubs that showcase 25 exotic species. The Gold Bar at EDITION immerses diners in a blackened environment of charred cedar, complemented with notes of white and gold. Meanwhile, the lobby bar serves as the hotel’s nucleus, where the lines between business and pleasure are blurred. The spa is home to a 24-hour fitness center, Jacuzzi, and white-tiled swimming pool, while a 250-person ballroom rounds out the onsite amenities.
All 206 guestrooms, including 22 suites, frame unobstructed views of Tokyo to form a cinematic backdrop accented by each room’s overall neutral palette. White oak and light gray characterize the interiors along with ivory and silver textiles that further evoke Zen-like luxury.
