Virgin Voyages has released new details on its RockStar Suites, which will debut aboard the company’s maiden cruise ship, the Scarlet Lady, when it sets sail in 2020.
Tom Dixon’s London-based Design Research Studio led the design of the 78 suites (the firm also crafted F&B spots for the ship). Each accommodation will draw inspiration from luxe mega yachts as well as music superstars like Grace Jones, putting a unique spin on Tom Dixon’s signature retro-futurism. Details include a deep blue palette, real leather finishes, and terrazzo flooring.
Spanning eight variations, suites include nautical-themed Mega RockStar suites, with Massive, Fab, Posh, and Gorgeous options. The 950-square-foot Fab suite will feature an open wall as well as an extra-long sea terrace equipped with an outdoor shower, stargazing loungers, a hammock, and a champagne table. The 833-square-foot Posh suite will boast a bar, spacious living room, and a peekaboo shower that overlooks the terrace, while the Gorgeous suite will comprise an open lounge, bedroom, luxe bathroom, and a sea terrace spread across 570 square feet.
Two Massive suites will total 2,147 square feet across the bridge of the ship, with music rooms easily convertible into extra bedrooms. Anchored by an oversized circular couch, the suite will also feature an in-room bar and a marble-clad bathroom and dressing room with a hot tub, vanity, and two full-sized wardrobes. A lookpoint with two loungers and two hammocks will also be attached.
