Located in the chic Sanlitun district of Beijing, the Opposite House by Swire Hotels has introduced its latest F&B concept. Inspired by the ancient Silk Road, the Bangkok office of New York-based design firm AvroKO crafted Union Bar akin to the studio of artist and potter Lucie Rie.
A subtle whimsy is infused across the space, which evokes the versatile glamour of Rie’s studio. Accented with copper architectural frames and metal mesh sheets, artwork and furnishings are showcased to spark curiosity in viewers. Strategically designed to have a clear social flow, clandestine elements like the bar trolley, spicery wall, and DJ booths allow for the environment to organically transition from day to night.
