Virgin Hotels and owner/developer Lam Group have revealed building designs for their first project together in New York City. Located in the NoMad neighborhood, Virgin Hotels New York is expected to open in 2017.
VOA Architecture has been enlisted as the architect and interior design firm to oversee the development of the new structure with the Virgin Hotels design team, which includes a block long high-end retail space, 475 guestrooms, multiple concept suites, F&B outlets, and a rooftop bar, as well as an outdoor pool and spa. The property is expected to break ground in early 2015.
“The 38-story hotel is a unique site and design opportunity for VOA with a massing that expresses the hotel’s internal functions, including active rooftops as well as a staggered cantilevered façade that enhances room views on all four sides,” says Len Cerame, VOA Architecture managing principal. “Virgin Hotels New York’s distinctive look is sure to play a key role in the neighborhood’s transformation process.”
Virgin Hotels has a pipeline of properties in the works, including Virgin Hotels
Chicago, slated to open January 2015 and a Nashville property, which plans to open summer 2016. Virgin Hotels continues to explore properties in cities such as Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington DC, and London.
