W Hotels Worldwide has planted its flag in Dubai with the launch of the new W Dubai – the Palm, which is located on the Palm Jumeirah (the largest manmade island in the world).
Visitors are greeted by a pathway accented by Orsoni glass tiles adorned with tones reminiscent of overgrown foliage. A five-story atrium punctuates the arrival experience and envelopes the welcome desk, channeling the desert fortresses and citadels of a bygone era. Golden trusses glisten throughout the interior, comprising framed boxes that represent different stages of modern construction in Dubai. The theatrical setting climaxes with the Soundwave, a nearly 100-foot-long visual vector that comprises 640 glass pieces and represents a W sound wave. The W Lounge embraces numerous geometric fixtures that mirror the raw, natural form of gold, while traditional firepits nod to the bonfires of the Bedouin tribes. The nearby VIP Lounge is linked to the glitzy space via a 45-foot-long sofa.
Set to open at the end of this month, Torno Subito will debut as the first restaurant concept from Massimo Bottura outside of Italy. One of six F&B venues onsite, the 1960s-style eatery will be appointed with woven green chairs, life-size beachfront imagery, bold metallic accents, and marquee-style lighting. Additional eateries include the Japanese concept Akira Back, the rooftop bar SoBe, and LIV, which makes a statement with artwork inspired by naturally occurring patterns found on beaches.
The 350 guestrooms and suites are outfitted with curvaceous tiled walls that shimmer in the Arabian sun. Modern graffiti also adorns interior walls and includes Arabic lyrics from a song by famed Lebanese singer Fairouz. Other amenities include multiple onsite pools—including the signature WET Deck, the FIT Gym, and more than 21,500 square feet of event space, including the 13,000-square-foot, oval-shaped Great Room. Inspired by the perspective of a pearl diver, the AWAY Spa is made up of 10 treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, experiential showers, and a hammam.
