Marriott International has announced the opening of the W Kuala Lumpur, which represents the first Malaysian property in the W Hotels portfolio.
The distinctive design of the W Kuala Lumpur draws heavily upon the robust cultural offerings of its setting. In homage to the region’s ancient artwork, traditional batik motifs welcome visitors. Abundant flora is reflected across the interior with elements such as bamboo-inspired chandeliers set against a rotating wall of lights. Streams of LED lights are suspended from the ceiling in reference to the waterfalls of Malaysia’s jungles, and the artistic ceiling patterns depict Kuala Lumpur’s topography. The signature W Living Room is attached to the hotel’s grand staircase, which features a towering, geometric cascade of steel-mirrored panels.
Included among the hotel’s 150 stylish accommodations are two Wow suites and the opulent Extreme Wow suite, which boasts nearly 5,600 square feet of living space. All guestrooms and suites embody both traditional and modern elements of the Jungle City, with details like pixelated batik designs and indigenous Wau tassels typically seen on Malaysian kites.
Six diverse F&B options are housed onsite, including the contemporary Cantonese concept Yen and the all-day option Flock, which boasts an open kitchen. Woobar serves as a round-the-clock social hub, while the Wet Deck pool bar maximizes views of the Petronas Twin Towers. A privately managed, 70-seat outpost of Saint Pierre is also featured alongside the VIP nightlife concept Wicked. The signature 11,840-square-foot Away Spa is home to five treatment rooms, vitality pools, chroma-therapy steam baths, and bio infrared saunas. The hotel also accommodates the nearly 10,800-square-foot Great Room among its 16,145 square feet of function space.
