Slated for a January 2018 opening, westdrift Manhattan Beach is set to debut as the Autograph Collection’s first property in Los Angeles. Set upon 26 acres at the center of the hip beach town along the South Bay, westdrift is a bicoastal chic retreat thanks to a renovation from San Francisco-based EDG Design.
The sophisticated hotel will feature a sun-washed palette for a casual, coastal aesthetic with driftwood, modern lines, and sandy hues contrasting splashes of navy. Mirroring the nostalgic Manhattan Beach pier, the lobby will feature striking wooden columns with metal accents. The bold sense of arrival continues with a custom Argentinian driftwood check-in desk and artwork from Eric Zener. More than 35,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space includes 23 meetings rooms, two larger industrial venues, an outdoor lawn, and the signature, indoor-outdoor eatery, which will be anchored by a 360-degree bar.
Among the 392 guestrooms, 112 will be equipped with private balconies that view the onsite golf course. All guestrooms will be inspired by the coastal destination with sea glass light fixtures and soft neutral tones with hints of cool blue. Nods to its setting include surfboard-shaped ironing boards and leather, golf bag-inspired headboards.
