Wilson Associates has teased its design for Marriott’s luxury boutique hotel line Autograph Collection’s Tokyo debut in new renderings, slated for completion in April 2020.
Spanning over 225,000 square feet as part of the new Takeshiba Waterfront Development Project in the city’s central business district, the mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection will fuse traditional details with modern innovation through local materials and a curated art program. Intimacy and nostalgia will abound across the hotel’s public spaces, with highlights such as accent lighting, copper finishes, and a reinterpretation of a traditional saltwater pond typical of the nearby Hama-rikyu Gardens.
A convivial communal table will anchor the double-height lobby, while a smoky gray marble pathway leads interiors adorned with soft forms and tactile textures that juxtapose the site’s strong vernacular. Venues like the ballroom and banquet spaces evoke a tailored simplicity, accented by lacquered doors.
All 265 guestrooms and suites will underscore dedication to luxury as well as emphasizing functionality through elements like collapsible closet cubicles and spacious living rooms.
