The Raffles Europejski Warsaw is slated to make its debut in early 2018 within the city’s 160-year-old landmark Hotel Europejski. Locally based firm WWAA Architecture will collaborate with designer Boris Kudlička and APA Wojciechowski to remodel the Enrico Marconi-designed structure.
The hotel’s 106 guestrooms and suites will be the largest in the city, with the Raffles suite topping out at 3,150 square feet. Informed by classic Polish design tradition, the hotel will feature blackened oak floors or marquetry, glossy veneer-clad cupboard doors, brass detailing, and marble bathrooms. Curated by Anda Rottenberg and Barbara Piwowarska, Polish artwork will populate each room as well. Original architectural elements such as cornicing and restored ceiling roses will appear in the onsite eatery and spa, the latter of which will be home to six treatment rooms, a pool, and a mosaic from the 1960s. Spanish design firm Lázaro Rosa-Violán will oversee the design of the Signature restaurant, which will feature an outdoor terrace overlooking Piłsudski Square.
Nearly all bespoke furniture and light fixtures will be commissioned by locally based artisans and designers. Interiors will also feature a combination of blue and white in reference to Polish pottery traditions.
