Kempinski Hotels has signed a management agreement for large-scale luxury development, 8 Conlay, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The ground breaking is scheduled to take place early next year, with completion expected in 2020. The 260-key Kempinski hotel and the 403-unit Kempinski Residences will anchor the development in the hotel tower, together with up to 1,092 units of 8 Conlay Residences serviced by Kempinski in two adjoining towers, all linked via a central retail podium. London-based design collective YOO will complete the interior design of the first residential tower and RSP Architects will master plan the development.
The central four-story retail podium will offer high-end boutiques and fine dining restaurants and will complement the current offerings in the Bukit Bintang shopping and dining area.
Completed by architect Hud Bakar, principal of RSP Architects, 8 Conlay takes a visual cue from the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang. Showcased as modified fragments of the yin and yang emblem, the three towers also reference the Chinese character for the number eight.
The hotel and residences will offer Kempinski The Spa, a gym, swimming pool, and a variety of restaurants and bars inside the hotel complementing the central podium’s offering.
