21c Museum Hotels has opened the company’s third property in Bentonville, Ark. Known for its public art galleries, the 21c Museum Hotel is located off Bentonville’s historic square close to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Designed by New York-based architect Deborah Berke, the hotel’s 104 rooms offer a residential feel with custom designed, neutral-hued furniture. The hotel’s public and gallery spaces-designed to balance both the grand exhibition space and more private spaces- include high ceilings, polished concrete floors, and cool tones. Natural light is infused throughout the 100,000-square-foot hotel via skylights, light monitors, an interior courtyard, and large windows. A highlight: the one-bedroom suite, which reflects a theme of “living with art” thanks to original art, a private outdoor terrace, living room, dining area, powder room, and wet bar.
In its 12,000 square feet of exhibition, event, and meeting space, 21c Museum Hotel Bentonville features rotating curated exhibitions, artist lectures, and live performances, as well as multi-media installations. Rotating solo and group exhibitions, including two inaugural exhibitions open through July, reflect contemporary art’s global nature. Featuring a collection of works titled, “Outside/in,” an additional eight site-specific installations are integrated into the design. The exhibition space is free of charge and open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Among the indoor and outdoor event spaces is the Art Yard-complete with a firepit and site-specific art installations. The property also features the Hive restaurant, which serves refined country cuisine. Additional amenities include a 20-mile pedestrian and bikeway network.
