The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has opened Ristorante del Lago. Designed by New York-based Adam Tihany, the restaurant draws inspiration from Italy’s Lake Como.

The villa-inspired design evokes an inviting, rustic atmosphere, with an undercurrent of sophistication. The 148-seat restaurant and adjoining bar, which opens May 19th, replaces the former Charles Court.
Ristorante del Lago’s exposed wooden beams, custom millwork, communal dining table, and indoor-outdoor fireplace call to mind an Italian manor. Tying in the lake and mountain views, the restaurant uses rustic materials such as walnut wood, terracotta tile, and leather, as well as contrasting modern elements. Some design features, such as the patio tiles, come from reclaimed materials brought in from historic Italian villas.
The glass-enclosed private dining space looks in on the 2,000-bottle wine room, and diners also have a view of the salumi and cheese rooms. The exhibition kitchen allows guests to watch the action, as line cooks work the brick-and-stonework wood-burning oven, red-enameled Bonnet rotisserie, and Parma Crown Anniversary Slicer. A Sambonet trolley displays classic Italian desserts in the dining room. The space offers an expanded and inviting bar and lounge area.
“In my estimation, Adam Tihany is one of the most gifted and prolific restaurant designers in the world,” says Broadmoor CEO Steve Bartolin. “In developing Ristorante del Lago, we asked Adam to create the feeling of a Lake Como villa, using reclaimed and authentic materials whenever possible-and he delivered. Even the tiles on the patio were reclaimed from a 130-year-old Tuscan villa. The added bonus is that Adam and his entire team are consummate professionals and a joy to work with.”
