The American Hotel & Lodging Association has announced the winners of the AH&LA Achievement Awards, part of the annual Stars of the Industry Awards, which honor stand-out initiatives at hotel properties. The honors distinguish individual hotels that have developed outstanding programs, events, and campaigns. Winners were chosen in the categories of good earthkeeping, guest relations, community service, special events, diversity, and a new category, technology.
And the winners are:
Special Events, One-Time Only, small property: The Chancellor Hotel on Union Square in San Francisco
Special Events, One-Time Only, large property: Tthe Arizona Biltmore for its 80th anniversary celebration
Special Events, Ongoing, small property: The Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley, Arizona, for its Arts-in-Residence Dinner Series
Special Events, Ongoing, large property: The Fairmont Scottsdale for its National Geographic Explorers Camp
Achievement in Guest Relations, small property: The Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix for its CARE program, which reflects the hotel’s core values of communication, accountability, respect, and ethics
Achievement in Guest Relations, large property: The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center (pictured above) in Nashville for handling nearly 1 million visitors during November and December for the Country Christmas celebration
Good Earthkeeping, small property: The Hilton Garden Inn in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for its work to become the first LEED certified hotel in the state
Good Earthkeeping Award, large property: The Hilton Grand Vacations Club in Las Vegas for the work of its R3 Committee, which stands for reduce, reuse, and recycle. The Hilton Grand tied with the Xanterra Parks & Resorts in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming.
Outstanding Community Service, small property: The Carlyle Suites Hotel & the Savoy Suites Hotel in Washington, DC, for its Serve America & Stay in DC campaign
Outstanding Community Service, large property: The Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort in Tucson for the work done on behalf of its internal Team Really Matters committee
The Prism Award, which recognizes creative and innovative diversity programs that have been integrated into a hotel’s strategic plan: The Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort and Marina in Cambridge, Maryland
Stars Award for technology innovations: The Sheraton Atlanta Hotel for the Link@Sheraton, a new lounge area created to help guests remain connected during their stay
