Alexandra Champalimaud has put a modern take on a classic style in her redesign of the Tower Premier Rooms at the Carlyle in New York City. The designer has elegantly appointed the one-bedroom accommodations with the fine antiques from the hotel’s collection (many updated in bold black lacquer), classic tub chairs upholstered in plush fabrics, tailored silk drapes with brightly colored borders and delicate trims, and signature English wilton carpets rendered in bold geometric patterns. In addition, artist Amy Kaufman created specially "knot" art etchings for the rooms.
