Aloft Pilots New Check-In Program

Aloft Hotels is piloting a new program in partnership with VingCard Elsafe called Smart Check-In that allows guests to skip registration and go directly to their rooms using a high-tech keycard. Select Starwood Preferred Guest members at the Aloft in Lexington, Massachusetts, will receive a card that runs on radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. On the day of their stay, visitors will receive a text message on their mobile device with their room number. Starwood says the keycard could one day serve as an all-access pass that allows guests to make F&B purchases throughout the hotel.
