Housed in an 1884 building, Andaz Liverpool Street in London has upgraded its public and meeting facilities, as well as features to its Gallery. The refurbished gallery space, which recently hosted exhibits as part of the London Design Festival, provides a more interactive experience with guests while creating a design-driven area with all the modern comforts. Other elements of the refurbishment included the gallery and upper gallery levels of the main circulation and pre-function spaces, the introduction of a new bar and significant new lighting features, the restoration of existing flooring and timber paneling, and a total re-fit of toilets.
Construction firm StructureTone was responsible for the project. “Issues of access and respect for the heritage of the building are frequently recurring features in hotel refurbishments as is the all-important need to avoid disruption to the guest experience when the hotel, as in this case, remains open throughout the works,” says Mark Ballantine, executive for StructureTone’s Hotel Division.
