Andre Kikoski Architect has received the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA) Institute Honor Award for the design of the Wright in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The restaurant references the museums unique geometry in many forms, including undulating walls, sculptural forms, flared ceiling, custom metalwork, fiber-optic layered walnut, and a glowing white canopy of layered membranes. One AIA juror noted the Wright is “sensitively handled and respectful of the essence of the original architecture.” Another noted, “The design approach is controlled but playful, and complements the nuance of the Museum’s overall movement and dynamic,” and a third stated that “with the confined space and modest budget, this project is exceptional.”
