B Hotels & Resorts plans to introduce the first lifestyle hotel to the Lake Buena Vista area. Following a transformation of the former Royal Plaza hotel, the B Resort will open early 2014 in the Walt Disney World Resort area.
Orlando-based architecture firm VOA Associates will lead the renovations in collaboration with San Francisco-based InSite. With its debut, the B Resort will unveil 394 redesigned guestrooms within the 17-story tower and connecting Lanai building-all of which allude to the surrounding destination. The changes will also cover the 25,000 square feet of function space, common areas, pool and outdoor terrace, and will also introduce a restaurant and spa.
Design highlights include a cascading waterfall in the lobby, and as part of B Hotels & Resorts’ B Humane program, all guestrooms come furnished with a plush green frog to represent the native Florida Gopher frog-a protected species. The Grand ballroom additionally accommodates up to 1,000 guests with espresso wood finishes and textured wallcoverings offset with crystal drop chandeliers.
