Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts will make its debut in India early next year. Located in the backwaters of the southern state of Kerala, Banyan Tree Kerala will feature 59 pool villas with views of the surrounding waterways and canals. Gabled roofs and carved wooden façades define the architecture, while interiors make use of indigenous materials such as coir, a natural fiber extracted from the husk of coconuts, along with ornamental wood carvings, paintings, frescoes, and Kathakali art, which references the traditional and stylized classical Indian dance-drama from the region.
Wellness offerings include the Ayurvedic Center Banyan Tree Spa, a gym, and yoga pavilion, while the library and game room offer leisure diversions. The Activity Island houses a multi-purpose deck that can accommodate groups of approximately 150. A grass function area is ideal for receptions, and a recreation zone offers a court for various sports, a climbing wall, archery range, and an obstacle course. F&B venues include an all-day-dining outlet, Saffron restaurant, a pool bar, spa café, and the bar lounge.
