Banyan Tree Spa has made its debut on the 55th floor of Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. The 4,000-square-foot venue, themed on the brand’s Tree of Life design, features 15 uniquely designed treatment rooms offering panoramic views. Designed by Banyan Tree’s design arm Architrave, the spa is outfitted in earth tones with black as an accent and employs textured materials to evoke the themes of nature in a mystical rainforest.
Greeting guests in the spa lobby is an exquisite starry sky set against an intricate a Tree of Life feature wall artwork. Taking center stage, a magnificent Arbol de la Vida Tree of Life sculpture from Mexico adds to the imagery of a tropical garden. The design honors Banyan Tree’s Asian heritage through details such as leaf-patterned handcarved timber panels by artisans from Indonesia and abaca woven fiber panels from the Philippines adorning the walls and doors. Natural stones such as travertine marble and onyx, as well as solid bamboo, are crafted into the floors and wall panels. Meanwhile, acrylic bamboo from Thailand adds contrast and a sense of calm amidst a bamboo garden. Interior furnishings and décor include Chinese- and Thai-style paintings, Balinese stone carving, and laser cut-out screens featuring different styles of the Tree of Life.
