Best Western International has announced plans to open in Myanmar. Taking over the previous Green Hill Hotel in Yangon, the group will become the first U.S. hotel company to establish a presence in the Southeast Asian state.
Located in the Tamwe Township area of central Yangon, the hotel will feature 189 contemporary rooms and suites. A modern restaurant will serve a selection of Chinese, Asian, and international cuisine, while the property will also offer meeting room facilities for business travelers.

“There is no doubt that Myanmar is one of the world’s hottest hotel markets at present, with a major increase in new hotel supply needed to cater for a huge influx of guests,” says Glenn de Souza, vice president of international operations for Asia and the Middle East. “Best Western International wants to be here for the long-term, to help grow the country’s tourism industry.”

This hotel marks Best Western’s ninth location in the 10 countries that form the ASEAN region, with more developments in Myanmar planned for the near future.
