The Boutique & Lifestyle Lodging Association (BLLA) has named Joe McInerney its 2012 Person of the Year. McInerney, a 50-year hospitality veteran, currently serves as chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA). His resume credits include heading up the launch of Hawthorn Suites, president and CEO of Travelodge, and president and CEO of the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
“Mr. McInerney’s involvement with hospitality programs at colleges and universities is unparalleled, and his commitment to hospitality education at all levels is exemplary,” says Frances Kiradjian, BLLA founder and chair. “Under his leadership the hotel industry has a strong voice on Capitol Hill and through his efforts, the lobbying PAC has tripled. He is highly deserving of the honor of BLLA’s Person Of The Year 2012.”
Geoffrey Kent, founder and CEO of Abercrombie & Kent, was named runner-up. McInerney will accept honors at the October 23 gala dinner as part of BLLA’s Leadership Symposium in Los Angeles.
