Italian furniture maker Bonaldo has won three Good Design Awards for its Pebble, Sol, and Babel products. Pebble has also passed the selection for the Interior Design Award from Interior Design magazine and has been nominated Best of Year 2010 honoree.
Babel, designed by Mauro Mazzer, is a five-shelf bookcase with a rounded trunk-like shape. It has been designed asymmetrically to create double-fronted compartments for, books, newspapers, and magazines. Its surface is scored irregularly, evoking natural elements. Babel is made in polyethylene and molded using a revolving technique. It is available in a range of colors.
The Pebble occasional table features soft shapes like those of stones washed smooth by the sea, which gave Matthias Demacker the inspiration for this project. The opening in the table structure on one hand highlights its rounded lines and, on the other, has a practical function, because the body of the table can contain books, magazines, or other objects for daily use. Pebble is produced in plastic through the rotational molding technique. It is available in a single color and bi-color, with internal and external surfaces in different colors.
Sol is an extendable table designed by Bartoli Design. The conical form of the legs and the tabletop creates a pleasant effect of lightness and dynamicity. Sol’s legs are created in cast aluminum and are available in white, anthracite, or brushed, while the tabletop is available retro-lacquered or in doluflex in white or anthracite.
