The Holiday Inn Boston/Woburn is on its way to becoming a Crowne Plaza as part of a two-phase renovation. In the first phase, Lynda Onthank of Onthank Designs in Natick, Massachusetts, designed the interior of the new Scoreboard Sports Bar & Grill restaurant using bamboo flooring and bright color combinations to divide the lounge, restaurant, and dance floor.

Onthank continues her work in the second phase with a redesign of the hotel’s guestrooms, which blend classical elements with a modern flair. Highlights include padded headboards, luxury bedding, cherry console desks, window sheers, hardwood flooring, and walk-in showers with sliding glass doors. Meanwhile, new lighting, flooring, furniture, and wall and window treatments adorn the ballrooms and meeting lobby areas.

The exterior also will receive a new look, thanks to by Dean Temple of dctDesigns, an architectural firm in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Temple’s biggest challenge: taking a 1970s building constructed with glass and aluminum siding and giving it a contemporary feel. Temple also is collaborating with Onthank on lobby and guestroom renovations.
