The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is seeking submissions for the 15th Annual IIDA/HD Product Design Competition, in partnership with Hospitality Design (HD) magazine. The contest-which is open only to exhibitors at the 2011 Hospitality Design Exposition & Conference (HD Expo)-recognizes products that promote innovation, function, and aesthetic advancements in the hospitality industry. Winners will be showcased during HD Expo at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, May 18-20, 2011.
The competition will announce the winning products at HD magazine’s Platinum Circle Awards® Gala on Wednesday, May 18 at the Venetian. The winners in each category will also be published in the magazine, the HD Expo’s Show Daily, and the IIDA website.
Criteria for entry:
- Entry is available for products designed for the environment of a hospitality installation
- Participants must request an entry kit PDF by Thursday, April 14, 2011
- Deadline to submit completed entries is Thursday, April 28, 2011
- You must be an HD Expo exhibitor to request an entry kit for the competition
- Only products offered for sale or use after June 1, 2010, are eligible for design awards
- One kit per product
- All products must be displayed at the manufacturer’s booth at the HD Expo
- Entry fees: $150 per product (IIDA members), $250 per product (nonmembers)
Products will be judged in the following categories:
- Accessories or Specialties (artwork/signage, hardware/decorative metals, operating supplies, amenities)
- Applied Finishes/Materials (wall coverings/treatments, paints/coatings)
- Casegoods/Freestanding Furniture (individual, series/collections)
- Flooring (carpet/rugs, hard surfaces, resilients)
- Lighting (individual, series/collections)
- Seating: Individual (dining, lounge, outdoor)
- Seating: Group (dining, lounge, outdoor)
- Textiles (upholstery, bedspread/drapery/casement)
