Heineken is bringing its Open Design Explorations: The Club, to New York. Launched back in April, the beer company is going to four cities-Milan, Tokyo, New York, and Sao Paolo-looking for young graphic, motion, fashion, interior, and product designers to create the nightclub of the future, and it is New York’s turn.
First step: enter yourself by August 21st by clicking here. Design coaches (such as Luc Shurgers and Fabio Rotella) will review all the portfolio submissions, select 20 designers from each of the four cities (New York, Tokyo, Milan and Sao Paulo), and invite them to present at one of four designer scouting events (September 7th in New York). These events will be powered by the renowned PechaKucha 20×20 format to give designers an opportunity to talk about their portfolio in person. Then a final group of designers (approximately five from each city) chosen by a group of design industry professionals will be invited to join the collaborative design process. Final concepts will be unveiled in a popup nightclub during the Milan Furniture Fair in April 2012.
Mark Van Iterson, manager Global Heineken Design and Concept says, “With the ‘open design explorations’, we’re kicking off a new approach to design that will see us co-create with emerging design talent and specialized studios to create new, visionary social environments and unexpected concept spaces.”
