Washington, DC’s Capitol Hill Hotel, formerly known as Capitol Hill Suites, has completed phase one of its redesign. A revamped lobby, overseen by Dawson Design Associates, features “federalist chic” furniture juxtaposed with an eclectic collection of vibrant and modern accent pieces. Local artists participated in the transformation. Maggie O’Neill of O’Neill Studios LLC pays homage to the beauty of springtime in the city, with a mural of blooming cherry blossoms in a hotel corridor. The hotel is also developing a local art program to continually bring current and local art into the hotel.
In addition, the first phase encompassed a redesign and expansion of meeting facilities. New spaces include the Boardroom; the Parlor, which features dual TV screens; the Salon; the Library; and the Independent, slated for completion on September.
Next up: a refurbishment of the hotel’s 152 all-suite guestrooms.
