Enrique Norten of TEN Arquitectos is changing the Midtown Manhattan skyline with his obelisk-style design of the Cassa Hotel and Residences, opening in August. Norten and design firm CetraRuddy have collaborated on the contemporary property, which greets guests with a lobby adorned with black volcanic walls polished to a matte sheen and a vibrant red boomerang-shaped reception desk. Additionally, natural light floods through a two-story glass wall drawing the outside urban setting into a vertical garden.
Cassa’s 166 guestrooms are outfitted with buttery cream-colored leather seating and ottomans, black leather studded headboards, Frette linens, flatscreen TVs, and a snack bar stocked with Dean and DeLuca goodies. In the fall, F&B concept 1945 will debut, envisioned by nightlife entrepreneur Jesse Keyes with design support and direction by architect Thaddeus Briner. The outlet is set up in zones such as the U-bar, great hall, and dining room.
