Jackson, Mississippi-based Celia Barrett Design has changed its name to Barrett Design Studio (BDS). Founded and led by Celia Barrett, BDS specializes in hospitality design and luxury custom residences.


“I wanted our name to reflect the different direction that we have taken in the last five years,” says Barrett, principal designer of BDS. “We are 75 percent hospitality design now. We design hotels and restaurants around the country. Barrett Design Studio helps us reach that next level. My design staff is growing also and the new name reflects that growth, yet still allows us to continue our residential work, which I love.”
Barrett has more than 30 years experience in interior design. She was a senior project designer for several leading New York City architectural firms as well as a senior store designer for Macy’s corporate stores prior to founding her own design firm in New York City. She has also served as chair of the ASID Mississippi District and is a member of the Better Business Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Green Building Council.
