Choice Hotels Europe has added five more properties to its portfolio in England’s Midlands and Hampshire, as well as in Dublin.
In the Midlands, the brand has opened the Quality Hotel Wolverhampton⎯⎯formerly the Connaught Hotel⎯⎯and Quality Hotel Birmingham Airport/NEC. This brings the number of Choice Hotels in the region to seven. The Makeney Hall Hotel now is known as the Clarion Collection Hotel Makeney Hall, a 46-room Victorian country mansion situated in the heart of Derbyshire and set on six acres of landscaped gardens.

Dating back to the 16th century, the Clarion Collection Hotel Winchester Royal is located near the center of the historic town and close to major roadways, Hampshire business destinations, and the scenic South Hampshire Coast. Dublin’s gibson hotel has also joined Choice’s Ascend Hotel Collection and the portfolio of 108 independent hotels worldwide, featuring 252 guestrooms with modern interiors and private balconies. The gibson hotel is now one of four Choice brand hotels located in the city.
Since the beginning of this year, Ascend Hotel Collection has opened 38 hotels. In addition to the five properties joining the network, the current Comfort Hotel St. Albans has become the four-star Clarion Collection Hotel St. Albans. The former home of Samuel Ryder, founder of the Ryder Cup, it dates back to the Edwardian era and has undergone extensive refurbishments.
