Choice Hotels International is announcing two firsts: its first hotel in Atlanta, and its first adaptive reuse project. The 156-key Comfort Suites property-co-owned by management firm Excel Hotel Group and restoration and renovation company S&A Industries-will occupy a century-old building that most recently has served as student housing facilities for nearby Georgia State University. A multimillion-dollar renovation, which calls for the replacement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment, will start at the end of June with a targeted completion date of December. New and revamped amenities will include a lounge area, meeting facilities, business center, fitness center, guest laundry facilities, and VIP floors.
