Promising “affordable luxury for the people,” a new 192-room citizenM hotel marks the brand’s debut in London. The open lobby is styled to look like the living room of a very well-traveled person, while an atrium boasts a tranquil atmosphere with elements such as birch trees, hanging lanterns, and a floor-to-ceiling mural by artist collective Assume Vivid Astro Focus (AVAF).
Art plays a major role in the hotel’s design. A text piece called “Another World Is Possible” by artist Mark Titchner decorates the façade. Works by Gavin Turk, Mario Testino, and a video by Belgian artist Hans ob de Beeck adorn the interiors.
Designed to feel like a residential kitchen, the self-serve canteenM features a red wooden coffee bar and marble-topped table. Meanwhile, guestrooms showcase an expanded vanity, more space to hang clothes, a large work surface, and a touch-screen tablet that controls everything from window blinds to lighting. The hotel also offers seven meeting rooms.
