Commune Hotels & Resorts has announced plans for a new-build mixed-use development operating as Thompson Seattle. Architecture practices Olson Kundig and Jensen Fey, along with interiors firm Munge Leung, will collaborate under the direction of Commune’s in-house design team.
Set to open in 2016 as the brand’s entry into the Pacific Northwest, the 12-story Thompson Seattle will comprise 159 guestrooms, 97 residences, a signature restaurant, approximately 1,600 square feet of retail space, and a rooftop deck with 9,500 square feet of indoor/outdoor space. The downtown building, which sits adjacent to the Pike Place Market, will offer unobstructed views of the surrounding Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Commune will develop the project with Geolo Capital and real estate firm Touchstone. “Our joint efforts on Thompson Seattle will allow us to cultivate an environment that resonates with the local community and provide travelers with an authentic Seattle experience,” said Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts.
