The D Casino Hotel in downtown Las Vegas has completed its transformation from the former Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel. Owner and CEO Derek Stevens blends classic Vegas references while adding touches of Detroit, Stevens’ hometown. The D’s Fremont Street façade features an interactive video display, known as “Face to Face,” which broadcasts colorful content across hundreds of feet of LED signage and 40 giant flatscreen TVs.
A new lobby leads guests to a two-level casino. The first floor is home to the latest in slots and table games; on the second floor, vintage Vegas prevails with coin-operated slots and the Sigma Derby simulated horse-racing game. Meanwhile, the 624 remodeled guestrooms boast clean lines, bold colors, and sleek gaming-inspired décor.
Classic menswear influences the design of the D’s suites, with details such as rich woods, marbles, and leathers, as well as hounds tooth carpeting and a pinstriped felt couch adorned with herringbone and tweed accent pillows. Other upgrades include two new bars, American Coney Island restaurant, and 8,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
