Developer David Edelstein and SBE founder and CEO Sam Nazarian have acquired the Raleigh Hotel with plans to renovate the iconic South Beach property as the flagship for its new Raleigh brand. Both men behind the project have ties to Miami; Edelstein owns W South Beach, while Nazarian recently opened SLS Hotel South Beach.
At the redesigned Raleigh hotel, plans call for preserving and refreshing the existing Art Deco framework. The project’s initial phase will include guestroom renovations, followed by the lobby and other common areas. Chef Michael Schwartz will continue to oversee food operations and is expected to debut a new restaurant concept at the hotel in 2013.
